Our toilet suddenly started having problems. I was so bummed because we have had no problems whatsoever since we moved into our house. Every time someone uses the toilet it won't flush anything solid without the use of a plunger. Annoying. Luckily we have two bathrooms so I could simply avoid our guest bathroom. I went out of town for two weeks hoping that when I got back the problem may have solved it self. Nope. Thank goodness my Dad came down for the Fiesta bowl the day after I got home! He was using the guest bathroom during his stay and, of course, he soon noticed our toilet problem. He asked me when the issue with the toilet had started. After I told him about our toilet troubles he said that most likely Ethan had flushed a toy or something down the toilet. The only way to fix the toilet would be to pull the toilet off the floor, tip it upside down and use a hanger to fish out whatever was stuck inside. Oh great!
So after spending $5-$7 at Ace Hardware for parts followed by an hour of getting all the water out of the toilet and getting the toilet off the floor, we found the problem. Ethan had done just what my Dad had predicted. A #2 pencil was stuck in the U of the toilet. No wonder we were having toilet issues. My Dad fished out the pencil and I saved it until Jared got home so that he could see it for himself. So from now on the bathroom is completely off limits for Ethan except for bath time every night.

They say life will never be the same after you have a child. I guess I didn't prepare myself for situations like this. But never fear, the toilet is fixed and working great and now if future children or Ethan decided to flush something else down the toilet I know exactly what to do.

So this has happened about 5 times in our post-children life. We currently have a toilet that has something in it that I'm just trying to ignore. We just snake the drain so we don't have to take the toilet off but it takes longer. I say we but I mean my dad. What would we do without those dad's of ours?
That is so funny. Lilly threw a diapper in our toilet today and tried to flush it down. Luckily it didn't flush. Gotta love those stories.
